Daily Tasks

At 9 am, we organize a circle with body exercises, singing, meditation, followed by educational activities in small groups or individual sessions. In the afternoon, we organize group activities such as painting, handicrafts, games, swimming, etc.

Skills gained

This is an enriching experience for volunteers. Most of our volunteers keep contact with us and come back to visit or to work again with us. This opportunity is ideal for volunteers who want to be involved in a communicative team work.  The volunteer will learn some Tamil language ; experience educational method applied in the local culture, learn team work. children and youth with special needs support each other. (special needs children help each other kindly and naturally).Moreover, the volunteer will see and experience how special needs children help each other kindly and naturally.

Opportunity Description

    • Lunch, tea and snacks are provided every day. Lunch is eaten together with the whole day-care group of children. 
    • Note that the working schedule implies 2 afternoons leave per week. 
    • Volunteers are expected to join all the activities according their capacities, and take care themselves of their accommodation. We recommend that clothing and behaviours respect the local culture (explanations will be given by our team members).

Prerequisites

We require professional physio-, speech-, occupational-therapists or special educators to support us - although a professional qualification is not compulsory to consider working with us. An experience or training with children with special needs would be ideal. We are looking for patient and communicative individuals, with the ability to work in a tea. Basic computer skills are welcome.
