Daily Tasks
Action research which includes observation, intervention and supporting existing STEM staff all engineers in research methodology.
Skills gained
Experience a true collaborative learning community and experience children taking responsibility of their learning. Learn about the various STEM activities including electronics, programming, robotics, 3D cameras and modeling, puzzles, games, math materials of all sorts, measuring equipment.

Context of the need
At STEM Land we follow an innovative learning paradigm of science and engineering where children are given the freedom to plan their work and work towards acquiring competencies. This helps them take responsibility of their own learning and also demonstrate their learning through creativity and projects they can build in this process. In addition the children work with peers and adults in an equal environment.

Goal and expected outcomes
The goal is to help us capture an important learning experiment at STEM Land and to see how it can be developed into a 'learning module' for others.
Position and role of the Volunteer
An Education Researcher with the ability to understand learning of children and formative assessments as well as develop mechanisms of recording /capturing true learning.
Conditions and practical details
Lunch will be provided by STEM on workdays.
Timing
Morning hours 9am - 12 .30pm
Afternoon hours 12.30pm - 5.30pm
Prerequisites
Academic Researcher – either masters or PhD in education/mathematics/pedagogy. Capacity of observation and taking notes. Good understanding of problem solving, analytical ability, etc. English is necessary. Tamil is useful as we work in outreach schools.
