Matrigold
History and today’s organization.
Incepted in 2005 it was Birgitta Volz vision in jewelry concept/design and as she explains
the impact pure gold has on the human body and proffered that the crowns worn by
kings, queens, and other priest types provided a vibratory connection to the divine. The Gold-
in-Glass 24-karat gold jewelry is primarily an energetic enhancement for one’s body. We
truly relished the divine selection of handmade jewelry items and Birgitta’s keen vision in
creating such beautiful pieces.
We produce a full range of ladies’ jewelry: bracelets, earrings, finger rings, pendants,
chains, hairclips, and sophisticated necklaces. For men, we have tie holders and cufflinks. We
also experiment with a lot of different materials, like seeds, coffee beans, ceramic, etc.

Vision and Missions
MATRIGOLD – from the Heart of Auroville
Gold has been used since the beginning of time as an aid to spiritual growth and
beautification. Matrigold offers a Divine selection of handmade jewelry items made with the
same methods that the gold outer skin of the Matrimandir has been prepared – 24 carat gold
fused into glass. Every single piece of jewelry is made by hand, giving it its unique charm.
Our main Collections have modern geometrical shapes like Suns, Moons, Ovals, Squares or
Triangles. We also have a wide range of asymmetrical single pieces, in which we upcycled
the broken golden and colored tiles from the Matrimandir.
Leaders & Team
Birgitta Volz is a German artist with an international reputation; she founded it, does the
designs and experiments, the purchase and production supervision, all the computer and

Being a renowned freelance artist and designer Birgitta Volz can issue internship papers for
a committed volunteer.
Other staff includes Shanthi who works full time, answers the phone, deals with clients, and
finalizes the jewelry. Kala comes sometimes for cleaning and helps out.
