Daily Tasks

Tasks will be allocated only after an interview via Skype and then in person once arrived. Our team encourages each youth to work on an area they are truly inspired to work on. Matching skills and interests play a key role in engaging volunteers for true, committed work towards the collective manifestation of Auroville’s ideals. Tasks could include: Website Management, Visual Documentation, Written Documentation , Event/Workshop Organization, Curriculum Design Support, Data Gathering & Processing, Writing for various Publications, Networking with Youth in India/Abroad.

Skills gained

YouthLink has a rich variety of projects and a diversity of choice in the work-field. Overall, volunteers will gain the experience of working on contemporary topics, in a multi-cultural team, in the aspiration of working for Auroville, its bioregion and the world.

Opportunity Description

 

Context of the need:

YouthLink is a service that welcomes youth to work on Auroville’s core issues in aspiration of our community ideals and linking to the world. The volunteer is expected to be interested and willing to work on existing youth projects and support the office as an information space.

 

Goal & expected outcome to achieve:

 YouthLink hopes to provide the space and support for youth to take positive initiatives to develop Auroville in relation to its bio region and the world. YouthLink hopes to bring together all those, no matter the age, to work on core issues that arise in our locality. YouthLink is a space for Youth Empowerment and Inclusion:

  • we support Youth Initiatives
  • we are an Information Platform for Youth Topics

 

Position & role of the volunteer:

 Volunteers would provide support to any of the current initiatives at YouthLink and will be guided by an Aurovilian core member. The volunteer will choose/be allocated work according to their skills and interests.

Volunteers will be part of the YouthLink team as an ‘Extended Member’. Depending on the legality of some topics, volunteers may not have decision making authority, but as for most areas of work volunteers will be included in team meetings and will be expected to attend YouthLink events/activities just like any Aurovilian member.

 

Conditions & Practical details:

Tea or juice will be offered on working days.

Possibility of discounts for lunch in Solar Kitchen.

We will try to pay the Auroville contribution for the volunteer.

 

Duration:

Minimum duration is 6 months that can be further extended if needed.

 

Timing

 

Morning hours 9.00 to 12.00, Monday to Friday.
Afternoon hours 14.00 to 17.00, Monday to Friday.

Prerequisites

YouthLink work calls on the willingness to work in a team, readiness to commit and offer in spirit of service, and a genuine enthusiasm and positive outlook in life. YouthLink invites those who have some experience of Auroville to join this work. YouthLink suggests those between the age group of 18-35 to join.
