GreenMove – UPCYCLED ebikes for a green future

History and today’s Organisation.

From a bike rent service in 2000, a new initiative sprang in 2015 for UPCYCLED ebikes for a green future in line with the eco sustenance values of Auroville. 

Green Move is an Auroville unit providing reliable and affordable upcycled mobility solutions. Our goal is to accelerate the transition of Auroville’s transport sector towards shared and sustainable mobility solutions, as well as to inspire other towns, villages, and especially the younger generation to adopt similar solutions.

Green move has also taken up the mantle of spreading awareness in the community by conducting workshops for Auroville school students and educate them about e-bikes.

 Milestones achieved as follows

• Workshop and office is established and fully operational.
• Solar system has been deployed and bikes at the workshop are fully charged with clean energy.
• Green Move website and integration of online booking will be operational soon
•  e-bikes are available as part of the Green Move e-bike scheme.
• Green Move has repurposed/ upcycled up to 10 petrol based bikes to e-bikes.
• Curriculum for the education program has been developed and contact with schools has been established.

Vision and Missions

 To move from an individual bike ownership model to a shared and sustainable e-bike ownership model. Its aspiration to accelerate Auroville’s transition towards a sustainable transports sector while at the same time it wants to inspire other town and villages to adapt similar solutions.
