Life Education Centre

Life Education Centre is an outreach school of Auroville, founded in 1991, providing an on-going program for training of young, underprivileged village-girls between the ages of 14-21 from Indian villages surrounding Auroville. 15 years of L.E.C. has been a gradual organic transition from a vocational centre to a life-educational centre. Since the last 9 years L.E.C focuses as much on the therapeutic side as well as the vocational side.
We offer training in basic skills, time for self-study, tutorship facilities and financial support for incompleted school education, individual counseling, Special Sanskrit classes.
All weekdays Morning classes – English, mathematics, discussions, chanting, empowerment, basic computer skills, typing, crochet and knitting, tailoring). Afternoons – Sewing/ Tailoring , to make simple Indian clothes. This all leads to the girls: employment; being more independent; being able to face the world they are living in.
