Nilatangam

The Unit has been created in 1974. The vision was the reforestation of the desert. The vocation is forestation and sustainability for the goodness of Auroville and its project. The main purpose is to educate people to be more conscious of living in harmony with the nature.

Vision & Missions:

The vocation of the unit is to carry out reforestation and work towards a sustainable community. With the cyclone which devastated the forest on the 29th of December 2011, the main activity is to clean up the forest, and to take care of all the wood left after the cyclone. The idea of a community is on it’s process of creation. Working with the forest aims at strengthening the consciousness of living in harmony with nature.
