Architect for Bamboo Constructions
Daily Tasks
To take part in the construction of bamboo projects, in collaboration with experienced designer/architect/technicians/workers at the bamboo centre. Once the training is provided, different challenges/tasks will be identified for the volunteer, in keeping with the vision of bamboo centre.
Skills gained
Through their work, Volunteers will gain theoretical as well as practical knowledge of bamboo building techniques. Plus an Opportunity to choose and attend (free of cost) any one of our workshops which include different challenges of designing /building /experimenting/ implementing numerous projects. A committed volunteer could also take over the coordination of the project, after a reasonable period of time,

Context of the need
Auroville Bamboo Centre offers upcoming architecture students and architectural professionals a good opportunity to participate and be part of our Bamboo volunteer community. Eco-friendly and economical house modules addresses an important architectural criteria. This is a platform and opportunity to develop numerous structures from eco-friendly bamboo.

Goal and expected outcomes
A time bound project with expected outcome will be identified together to with the volunteer. This could be an individual project or a team project with other volunteers. Training and Guidance will be provided in keeping with the objectives and vision of Bamboo Centre.
Position and role of the Volunteer
To be part of one of the teams identified for a particular project or work on individual project, in keeping with vision of Bamboo Centre.
Conditions and practical details
For long term volunteers, Bamboo Centre offers accommodation with breakfast at a cost of Rs. 9000 per month. Additionally, volunteer will be allowed to participate, in any one Bamboo centre workshop (free of cost), upon minimum commitment of two months.
Timing
Morning hours 9-12am
Afternoon hours 1.30-5pm
Prerequisites
Architect student, Architect professional, Design background, a good knowledge of architectural softwares.
