Technologies
Pursuing its goals of sustainability and self-sufficiency, Auroville applied research units have demonstrated the feasibility of natural energy sourced systems with wind, sunlight, biomass. With a similar spirit of integrated development and harmony with nature, Auroville experiments have shown noticeable advances in the fields of design, architecture and eco-construction, in particular earth construction and recycling building techniques.
Rainwater harvesting systems, domestic wastewater treatment, use of natural building techniques, sustainable planning and urban development are presently rich fields of research, experimentation, workshops and student exchange/field surveys.
